Yogyakarta — A public webinar was held via Zoom. Dei Providentia Foundation, in collaboration with Universitas Sanata Dharma, held a webinar on the theme of “Journey of Resilience.” The event was held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on Saturday (27/09).
The speaker of this webinar was Fr. Sugiyo Pitoyo, S.J.; he was a priest of the Society of Jesus and the rector of De Britto High School. This webinar shared how to build emotional resilience, maintain connections, and forster a positive outlook. The webinar was filled with a speaker session, a question and answer session, and sharing from the participants.
Dhanu, as the co-host, said, “I am pleased and encouraged by the results of my work, but I still regret that there are many things that could have been improved in my own performance. However, I am also grateful to the foundation for giving me the opportunity to organize a useful discussion forum for the general public.” He added, “What I learned from this experience is that self-management needs to be regulated and become a strong principle for myself. It doesn’t matter which paradigm we take, but how we develop, what we realize is wrong, and are willing to improve.”
Fr. Sugiyo Pitoyo, S.J., at the webinar, said that our happiness and our peace of mind depend on the way we choose to think.
Feriska, an English Letter student from Universitas Sanata Dharma, and one of the participants, said, “After joining this webinar, I felt motivated. There was one piece of advice from the priest that really made me realize the importance of always thinking positively and how we manage our thoughts. Because we can become emotional just because of our own thoughts. Joining this webinar also taught me that falling down is normal, but getting back up is special.”
And regarding the relevance of the theme to the current situation, she added, “In my opinion, it is relevant. Because for z generation today, I think we often overthink things and complain a little when there are problems, especially related to academics. As a student who is still adapting to college life, I think the theme of this webinar is very relevant. It’s about how we are taught to get up and solve problems or challenges in our lives.”
Through this webinar, participants not only learn to control their thoughts and emotions but also learn to interpret their lives in a positive way. As Fr. Sugiyo Pitoyo S.J. said at the end of the webinar, “There is a short story about two monks who were asked to fill their rooms. One filled his room with trash, while the other filled his room with the fragrance of scented candles.”
