Happily Ever After

I used to believe love was simple.
Putting on a glass slipper, or biting an apple.
I would go through any lengths, near or far.
Even as crazy as wishing upon a star

I blamed the stories I read
For portraying things that are easier said
I scoffed and sighed through every chapter
Thinking "When is it my happily ever after?"

I picked myself up, and started anew
It's all so clear now, for I finally knew
For the love I've been waiting for ages
Isn't the one already written in the pages
